  About Us

Founded in 2009, the Educational Leadership Center for the Wiregrass (ELCW) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the development of school and school system leaders in the Wiregrass region of Alabama. ELCW is committed to educational excellence and offers distinct programs in support of school improvement efforts in a contiguous five-county region encompassing Coffee County, Dale County, Geneva County, Henry County, and Houston County.

The Educational Leadership Center for the Wiregrass designs, delivers, and evaluates programs and services for instructional leaders as defined by the Alabama State Board of Education including Superintendents, Principals, Directors of Instruction, Assistant Principals, and Aspiring Leaders. The goals of the ELCW are:

  • To impact positive change in student performance and achievement as assessed through an integrated quantitative and qualitative evaluation process;
  • To increase the number of talented, accomplished professional educators currently employed in or aspiring toward leadership positions in Wiregrass public schools;
  • To effect measurable improvements in the comprehensive leadership skills and abilities of superintendents, principals, assistant principals, instructional directors, and aspiring leaders;
  • To develop and support instructional leaders who are proficient in and dedicated to continuous school improvement.

The Educational Leadership Center for the Wiregrass is comprised of four key components:
